Know About Acid Reflux

Do you have acid reflux? If so, you may understand that this might lead to heartburn, yet did you know that it might damage your oral health? Luckily, there are several steps you can take to protect your teeth if you suffer from acid reflux.

If you suffer from acid reflux, undigested foods and acids might enter your esophagus and could reach your mouth. This might lead to a serious dental problem because your pearly whites aren’t protected from acids like your stomach is. Sadly, even though your enamel is quite hard, it can break down, which will leave you even more vulnerable to tooth decay.

Luckily, there are a few steps you can take to keep your enamel strong. You see, there are many things you could consider doing such as taking soda out of your diet. You may also want to be careful with acidic foods like orange juice, and sugary snacks. If you consume these foods, please drink water afterward and try to rinse your teeth off. Naturally, you should also discuss it with your doctor.
