Mouth-Healthy Resolutions

As a new year approaches, it’s time to think about the health of your smile. If you wish that you had a healthier and more attractive smile, try focusing on mouth-healthy resolutions this year. There are many goals you can set in order to achieve the smile you have always wanted, and some of those goals include:

Brush properly
Make sure you brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time. This will help you thoroughly clean your smile by freeing the food particles that are stuck and by removing the plaque that continually grows on your teeth. When you brush, make sure you use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.

Floss daily
It’s extremely important that you floss at least once every day. Your toothbrush won’t always remove all of the food particles stuck in your smile, which is why flossing is vital. Flossing will also help you remove the plaque that grows between your teeth. You can use whichever flossing product you prefer when you floss.

Chew sugarless gum
Chewing sugarless gum will help you constantly clean your smile. Chewing will help you produce saliva, which is beneficial because the saliva can wash your teeth and neutralize the acids in your mouth, which will help prevent tooth decay.

Have a healthy diet
Whether you believe it or not, there are foods that are good and bad for your teeth, so it’s important that you keep a healthy diet so your teeth can remain strong and healthy. Some healthy foods you can eat include fresh fruits and veggies. Some bad foods include sugary treats, acidic foods, and soda.

Visit your dentist
It is vital that you visit your dentist every six months if you want to maintain a healthy smile as well as prevent dental issues. So, make sure you keep up with your dental visits this year; doing so will help you protect your teeth and gums from gum disease.

If you set these five goals this year, you will have a healthier, stronger, and more beautiful smile in no time!
